Antigua Sailing Week: A New Era of Racing and Revelry Awaits

Antigua Sailing Week kicks off April 22 with an exciting new format that promises to attract a diverse array of participants. Here’s why this revamped event could redefine sailing competitions in the Caribbean.

This year’s event introduces a multi-venue format, ensuring a mix of intense racing and vibrant social gatherings. Starting at Nelson's Dockyard, sailors will race to Green Island, then to Jumby Bay Island, covering distances of 8 NM, 17 miles, and 21 miles over the first three days. The final leg returns to Nelson's Dockyard for prize-giving and a grand celebration.

The competition features four divisions: Monohull Racing, Multihull Racing, Monohull Cruising Rally, and Multihull Cruising Rally. Notable participants include Peter Blunden, skipper of the Dufour 500 GL Life of Reilly III, and local favorites like Sandy Mair with his Beneteau First 36 Cricket. Youth sailors Carrack and Tyden Jones, fresh off victories in local regattas, join the fray aboard their J30, Blue Peter.
