The 2026 ILCA 6 Masters World Championship reaches a thrilling climax as competitors wrap up ten races in Athens. This pivotal day sets the stage for an electrifying final showdown across all age categories.
A 90-minute delay precedes the first race, with light winds of 5-10 knots and choppy seas creating a challenging environment. The second race maintains similar conditions, ensuring the championship stays on track. Leaders like Kerry Waraker AUS, heading the Super Legends category, emphasize the importance of the new age division for sailors over 85, promoting continued participation in the sport.
Kim Tan NED, leading the Great Grand Masters, praises the event's organization and camaraderie among competitors, highlighting the blend of high-level competition and the enjoyment of sailing well into older age.
With ten races completed, the competition heats up as leaders emerge, but podium spots remain highly contested. Every point counts as the final races approach. The first warning signal for the last day is set for 13:00.
This championship is backed by the Nautical Club of Kalamaki, the ILCA Class Association, and sponsors including ONEX Shipyards & Technologies and Shell. Stay tuned for live streaming and updates on the official event website.
