Barcolana 58 is officially underway as registration opens for the world's largest sailing race. This year’s theme, "Be Barcolana," invites participants to immerse themselves in the event’s spirit and share their stories from the stunning Friuli Venezia Giulia region.
The 58th edition promises a vibrant lineup, featuring the celebrated Nave Vespucci, a new mascot named "Lelio," and an updated events calendar blending classic attractions with fresh experiences. The expanded Village will now incorporate the Borgo Teresiano district, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
Mitja Gialuz, President of the Società Velica di Barcola e Grignano, emphasizes that "Being Barcolana" is about community, shared values, and harmony with the sea. The partnership with Generali continues, showcasing their commitment to promoting wellness through sport. Emma Ursich from Generali highlights the success of initiatives like the Women in Sailing project, which spotlight mixed sailing and community engagement.
Barcolana is more than a race; it represents the collaboration of over a thousand individuals, institutions, and partners dedicated to showcasing their region and values. The traditional SVBG bell has officially marked the start of this exciting journey, setting the stage for an unforgettable sailing experience.
