Jai Opetaia loses the IBF cruiserweight title for the second time. The IBF confirms the decision after Opetaia participates in the March 8 fight against Brandon Glanton for the Zuffa Boxing cruiserweight championship. The IBF had withdrawn sanctioning for the bout, stating it was misled about the nature of the Zuffa title. Despite winning the fight by unanimous decision and claiming the Zuffa championship, the IBF moves to strip Opetaia of its title. In 2023, he was stripped for fighting Ellis Zorro instead of mandatory challenger Mairis Briedis. Following a board meeting on March 19, the IBF votes to vacate the title. The organization refunds Opetaia $73,000 in sanctioning fees. The IBF acknowledges Opetaia's rise to champion but emphasizes the importance of adherence to its rules. The IBF cruiserweight title is now vacant.
