Emanuel "Vaquero" Navarrete unifies the WBO and IBF junior lightweight titles with an 11th-round TKO of Eduardo "Sugar" Nunez in Glendale, Arizona. Navarrete (40-2-1, 33 KOs) dominates the fight, forcing referee Benjamin Rodriguez to stop the bout after Nunez's right eye swells shut. Navarrete controls the early rounds, then accelerates in the seventh, landing 182 of 381 power punches (48%). Nunez, ranked No. 6, struggles to find a miracle punch as his eye closes completely by the ninth. Despite Nunez's desire to continue, the ringside doctor halts the fight. Nunez praises Navarrete as the toughest in the division, while Navarrete focuses on celebrating his victory before considering future opponents, including O'Shaquie Foster (WBC) and Lamont Roach (WBA). "It's very premature to think about that right now," says Navarrete.
