Boxing : Tellez and Mendoza to Clash as Co-Main Event for Fundora-Thurman Fight

Yoenis Tellez faces Brian Mendoza in a junior middleweight clash, now the co-main event for Sebastian Fundora's WBC 154-pound title defense against Keith Thurman on March 28 in Las Vegas. This matchup replaces the postponed heavyweight bout between Richard Torrez Jr. and Frank Sanchez due to Sanchez's knee injury. Tellez (11-1, 8 KOs), 25, looks to rebound after a unanimous decision loss to Abass Baraou for the WBA interim title last August. He rebounded with a stoppage win over Kendo Castaneda in December and is now ranked in ESPN's top 10. Mendoza (23-4, 17 KOs) previously knocked out Fundora in 2023 for the WBC interim title, marking Fundora's sole professional defeat. Although Mendoza has gone 1-2 since that victory, including losses to Tim Tszyu and Serhii Bohachuk, he secured a TKO win over Jesus Antonio Rojas last July.
