Michael Carrick is in the running for Premier League Manager of the Season after a stunning turnaround with Manchester United. Here’s why his candidacy could reshape the future of the club.
Since taking over in January, Carrick has led United to ten victories in 15 matches, elevating them from seventh to third place and securing Champions League qualification. His successful interim spell has pushed Sir Jim Ratcliffe to consider him for a permanent role this summer.
Joining Carrick in the manager's shortlist are Arsenal's Mikel Arteta, who is on the brink of clinching the Premier League title, and Pep Guardiola, aiming to thwart the Gunners' ambitions. Brentford's Keith Andrews also earns a nod for leading his team towards European competition, while Andoni Iraola of Bournemouth and Regis Le Bris of Sunderland round out the nominations.
In the Player of the Season race, Arsenal's David Raya, Gabriel Magalhães, and Declan Rice represent the Gunners. They face stiff competition from Manchester City’s Erling Haaland, the league’s top scorer with 26 goals, and Antoine Semenyo. Also in the mix are Brentford’s Igor Thiago, Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White, and Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, the current favorite with 19 assists.
