The event kicks off with winds between 18 and 20 knots, setting the stage for an intense competition. However, as the boats exit the bay, weather conditions worsen, leading to around twenty retirements in the initial hours, mostly due to torn sails during gybes in rough waters. With an unstable northwesterly wind and gusts projected to hit 35 knots, sailors face a formidable challenge ahead.
Gilles Bricout, the race director, oversees operations with a steady hand, drawing on years of experience.
