Alex Baudin of EF Education-EasyPost leads the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes heading into stage 3’s team time trial. This solo effort on stage 1 earned Baudin the coveted maillot jaune, putting him 32 seconds ahead of rivals Ramses Debruyne (Alpecin-Premier Tech) and Kevin Vermaerke (UAE Team Emirates-XRG). Several key contenders, including Paul Seixas (Decathlon) and Isaac Del Toro (UAE Team Emirates-XRG), trail by 44 seconds.
The stage features a challenging 28.4km circuit in Perreux, starting with a 4.9km climb averaging 3.5%. After a technical descent, teams face a shallow ascent to the second time check, culminating in a steep final 800 metres.
Netcompany Ineos, fresh off a win in a flatter team time trial during Paris-Nice, features Kévin Vauquelin and Oscar Onley, both sitting in the top ten overall. Lidl-Trek, with Juan Ayuso and Mattias Skjelmose also at 44 seconds back, aims to close the gap.
Decathlon, missing Matthew Riccitello, relies on strong riders like Stefan Bissegger and Daan Hoole. The unique time trial format means each rider's finish counts, pushing teams to keep their leaders together for maximum efficiency.
