Cameron Jones (Scott Sports USA-RCC) shatters the fastest known time on The White Rim trail in Utah, clocking in at 5:23:27. He beats Keegan Swenson's previous record by 4 minutes and 54 seconds. Jones achieves this on an unsupported ride, verified by Scott Sports USA.
The 100-mile (160.70km) course features a grueling 7,414 feet (2,260 metres) of elevation gain, winding through remote desert landscapes near Moab, Utah. Riders tackle the route in a counter-clockwise direction, starting at the intersection of Mineral Bottom Road and Island in the Sky Road.
Jones encounters challenging conditions, battling a headwind that puts him nearly four minutes behind Swenson at the halfway point. "It was quite windy in my ride," he reflects. Despite the struggle, he remains focused on the goal, tracking his progress against Swenson’s time.
With optimism, he reminds himself that the headwind will eventually turn into a tailwind. His mental resilience shines through, allowing him to push hard and ultimately secure the record. This performance highlights both his physical prowess and strategic mindset in the face of adversity.
