Carys Lloyd (Movistar) clinches a stunning victory at the Ronde van Brugge, outpacing Elisa Balsamo (Lidl-Trek) and Nienke Veenhoven (Visma-Lease a Bike) in a chaotic sprint. The race, marred by crashes and inclement weather, saw riders battling strong winds and rain, with hail adding to the difficulty. Despite a late attack from Alison Jackson (St Michel-Preference Home-Auber93) and a brief lead by Jony van den Eijnden (Citymesh-Custom) and Babette van der Wolff (EF Education-Oatly), the peloton regrouped. A crash with 2.3km remaining disrupted sprint trains, leaving pre-race favorite Lorena Wiebes (SD Worx-Protime) boxed in. Lloyd seized the moment, launching a powerful sprint on the right side of the road. Balsamo closed in but fell short, marking Lloyd's first professional win. “Oh my God, I’ve actually won,” exclaimed the 19-year-old after her impressive triumph.
