Pauline Ferrand-Prévot secures second place at the Tour of Flanders, again falling short against Demi Vollering. The solo effort from Vollering on the Oude Kwaremont seals her victory, leaving Ferrand-Prévot reflecting on her performance.
Despite entering the race with high hopes, Ferrand-Prévot acknowledges she lacked the strength to keep pace with Vollering. “I did my best, the team did the best. I was just not strong enough today to follow Demi,” she admits.
Last year's runner-up in her first Classics appearance since 2018, Ferrand-Prévot aimed for a stronger showing in 2026. Training at altitude was part of her preparation, but she notes that Vollering's earlier race at Dwars door Vlaanderen may have given the Dutch rider an edge.
Ferrand-Prévot expresses satisfaction with her effort, stating, “I feel quite happy to be second today. It was just impossible to do better.”
With the season still unfolding, Ferrand-Prévot sets her sights on defending her Tour de France Femmes title and competing in Liège-Bastogne-Liège. The battle for supremacy in women's cycling continues as the season progresses.
