Remco Evenepoel ramps up his Tour de France preparation with an altitude training camp in Sierra Nevada. This strategic move could significantly impact his performance in the upcoming Tour, which kicks off in Barcelona on July 4.

After a strong spring season, including a victory at the Amstel Gold Race and a third-place finish at Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Evenepoel shifts focus entirely to his Tour campaign. Notably, he will skip the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, opting instead for intensive training and reconnaissance of the Tour route alongside teammates Gianni Vermeersch and Tim van Dijke.

Evenepoel's recent training sessions highlight his commitment. He completed an 86.3 km ride with two challenging ascents of Puerto Blancares, accumulating 1,552 metres of elevation. Following that, he tackled an 83 km ride over three hours, featuring a climb to 2,300 metres at the ski resort of Pradollano, near Pico del Veleta.

Unlike his rivals, such as Jonas Vingegaard and Tadej Pogačar, who are competing in other races, Evenepoel aims to arrive at the Tour completely fresh, setting the stage for a potentially explosive performance. The countdown is on as he fine-tunes his fitness for cycling’s biggest showdown.
