The finale unfolded dramatically, with a crash occurring as the peloton approached the last kilometer. Picnic-PostNL surged forward with four riders, but chaos ensued when one cyclist collided with the curb. As the dust settled, Vincenzo Albanese attempted to break away, only to be countered by Danny van Poppel from Meeus' team, who launched a decisive move with 500 meters to go. This setup allowed Meeus to execute a powerful final sprint, crossing the line just ahead of Fretin by a tire's width.
Earlier in the race, a lead group formed after 55 kilometers, including Casper Pedersen, Titouan Fontaine, and Sébastien Grignard. Despite their early efforts, the pack closed in with 15 kilometers remaining, setting the stage for a thrilling showdown among the sprinters. The race featured numerous climbs, including the challenging Muur-Kapelmuur, but it was Meeus' tactical execution and speed that ultimately secured his hard-fought victory.
