Lotte Kopecky secures another second place at La Vuelta Femenina, marking a tough stretch for SD Worx-Protime. Here’s why her struggles could reshape the team’s strategy for the remainder of the race.

On the challenging stage in A Coruña, Cédrine Kerbaol from EF Education-Oatly launched a decisive late attack, clinching her 10th career win as she finished solo, just four seconds ahead of Kopecky. This follows her previous second place behind Noemi Rüegg on the first day. Despite the consistent podium finishes, Kopecky faces mounting challenges, including a fine and yellow card from the earlier sprint finish.

Kopecky, who acknowledged the team’s shift in focus, stated, “Things are really not going our way.” The team opted to support Mischa Bredewold, known for her hill-climbing prowess, instead of relying on Kopecky in the finale. Kopecky struggled on the climbs, indicating a tactical pivot for the team. She noted the difficulty of the cobbled terrain and the chaotic final kilometers, which hindered their chase.

With two runner-up finishes, SD Worx-Protime looks to regroup as they seek victory in the upcoming stages of La Vuelta Femenina.
