Disaster strikes at the 2026 Strade Bianche Women as a chase group takes a wrong turn, derailing their chances. Misled by a motorbike, they leave the official route, only realizing the mistake after several hundred meters.
At that point, they’re about a minute behind the leaders, but by the time they regroup on the correct path, the gap has widened to nearly three minutes. Both Vollering and Ferrand-Prévot face additional setbacks, suffering mechanical issues earlier in the race. Ferrand-Prévot struggles with a jammed chain, while Vollering deals with a puncture, leaving their hopes of a top finish in tatters.
