Italian cyclist Linda Laporta of Vini Fantini-BePink faces provisional suspension after testing positive for Enobosarm, a prohibited substance. The International Testing Agency (ITA) confirms the adverse finding occurred during the opening stage of the UAE Tour Women on February 5. This test, part of an intelligence-led initiative, has led to immediate action under UCI anti-doping rules.
Laporta, who finished 50th at the UAE Tour, has since competed in the Volta Valenciana Femenina and Trofeo Oro in Euro. The 26-year-old, now in her third professional season, previously raced for BTC City Ljubljana.
Laporta has the right to request a B-sample analysis and can present her defense regarding the positive result. Enobosarm, classified as a non-specified anabolic agent by WADA, is banned at all times for its performance-enhancing effects.
