Marta Lach from SD Worx-Protime clinches her second consecutive victory at the Festival Elsy Jacobs in Garnich, winning a nail-biting sprint against teammate Femke Gerritse. This victory marks Lach's first win in a year, mirroring her triumph at last year's event, where she also prevailed in a photo finish.
The race covered 112.4 kilometers, featuring challenging laps around Clemency and a notable climb at 4.3%. The peloton stayed largely intact until the decisive final circuits, where the pace intensified with 60 kilometers remaining. A six-rider breakaway formed, including Lach's teammate Mikayla Harvey, but SD Worx-Protime controlled the chase, reeling them in as the race approached its climax.
With under 3 kilometers to go, the SD Worx team surged to the front, setting up an explosive finish. Lach and Gerritse, having worked seamlessly together, crossed the line almost simultaneously, with Lach narrowly ahead. Eline Jansen from VolkerWessels Cycling took third place, finishing ahead of Ilse Pluimers from AG Insurance Soudal Devo. This thrilling race showcases the dominance of SD Worx-Protime and sets the stage for an exciting season ahead.
