Max Kanter (XDS-Astana) clinches a stunning victory in stage 2 of Paris-Nice, marking his first WorldTour win. The German cyclist navigates a chaotic sprint finish in Montargis, outpacing Laurence Pithie (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) and Jasper Stuyven (Soudal-QuickStep). Kanter receives excellent support from Mike Teunissen, who sets up a perfect lead-out.

A late attack by Daan Hoole (Decathlon-CMA CGM) is reeled in just before the finish, opening the door for the final sprint. Meanwhile, a crash in the last kilometer disrupts the plans of NSN Cycling and Movistar, leaving their sprinters, Biniam Girmay and Orluis Aular, unable to contest.

Luke Lamperti (EF Education-EasyPost) retains the yellow jersey but sees his lead evaporate as Vito Braet (Lotto-Intermarché) secures six bonus seconds at the intermediate sprint. The race heats up as competitors prepare for the next challenge.
