Tadej Pogačar claims victory at Milan-San Remo on a damaged bike, adding another layer of intrigue to his remarkable performance. According to UAE Team Emirates-XRG mechanic Boštjan Kavčnik, Pogačar cracked his frame during a crash before the Cipressa, damaging the rear fork but preventing a catastrophic failure. Kavčnik revealed that the bike's condition likely hindered Pogačar’s performance, as the disc brake rubbed against the surface. “If Tadej had known what condition the bike was in, he wouldn't have been descending so uncompromisingly,” Kavčnik stated. Despite the setbacks, Pogačar's record time on the Cipressa remains extraordinary, showcasing his tenacity. He also outpaced elite competitors like Mathieu van der Poel and Tom Pidcock, making the win even more impressive.
