Tom Pidcock gears up for his fifth Strade Bianche this Saturday, aiming to reclaim glory after finishing second to Tadej Pogačar last year. The British rider, now in his second season with Pinarello-Q36.5, feels his team has sharpened their edge, especially after a rigorous 25-day altitude camp in Chile. Pidcock’s confidence is on the rise following a stage win at Ruta del Sol, despite early frustrations this season.
“I want to perform because it’s one of my favorite races,” Pidcock states, acknowledging the challenge ahead. He highlights the importance of competing with Pogačar, saying, “If I can battle with Tadej for a little or for a long time, that’s a positive.” Pidcock also recognizes a stronger field this year, noting the rising talents of rivals like Isaac Del Toro and Paul Seixas. The stage is set for an intense showdown in Tuscany.
