Usoa Ostolaza secures third place in the final stage of the Vuelta a Burgos Féminas with a remarkable comeback on the Lagunas de Neila climb. This performance marks the first-ever podium finish for Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi in a WorldTour stage race, a milestone that highlights the team’s growing prominence in women’s cycling.
Initially struggling on the steepest part of the 6km ascent, the Basque climber lost contact with the leading group. Despite this setback, Ostolaza dug deep, regained her rhythm, and launched a powerful solo attack close to the finish. “I gave it absolutely everything I had left,” she stated, showcasing her determination as she crossed the line.
Ostolaza's recent form is impressive, having finished fourth in the Vuelta Femenina and seventh in the Itzulia Women. Transitioning from triathlon to road cycling in 2020 due to injury, she has continued to build her reputation since joining Laboral Kutxa-Fundación Euskadi.
With this podium finish, Ostolaza not only cements her place in the race but also sets her sights on future challenges, including the Tour Pyrénées and the prestigious Tour de France Fem. Her journey is a testament to resilience and the growing talent in women’s cycling.
