Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) asserts his dominance at the Giro d'Italia, clinching victory on the opening summit finish at Blockhaus. This performance signals his status as the race favorite, and the implications for the competition could shift dramatically from here.

On the challenging 13.6km climb, Vingegaard launched his decisive attack just 5.5km from the summit, initially accompanied by local hero Giulio Pellizzari (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe). However, within a kilometer, Vingegaard surged ahead, leaving Pellizzari and other general classification contenders in his wake. He crossed the finish line a staggering 13 minutes later, raising his arms in triumph, joining the ranks of legends like Eddy Merckx and Nairo Quintana.

Felix Gall (Decathlon CMA CGM) secured second place, finishing just 13 seconds behind Vingegaard after overtaking Pellizzari in the final stretch. Former Giro champion Jai Hindley rounded out the podium, crossing the line 59 seconds behind, ahead of Pellizzari and Ben O'Connor (Jayco-AlUla). Vingegaard's commanding performance sets the tone for the rest of the Giro, leaving competitors scrambling to keep pace.
