Cyclisme : Visma-Lease a Bike Faces Challenge as Laporte Withdraws from Samyn Classic

Christophe Laporte drops out of the Ename Samyn Classic due to illness, dealing a significant blow to Visma-Lease a Bike. The team announces he's "not feeling 100% fit" after a strong Opening Weekend. Laporte led Visma in Belgium, finishing fourth at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad and guiding Matthew Brennan to victory at Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne.

His absence leaves a gap in the squad for the 203.8km cobbled race. Wout van Aert returns to the lineup after recovering from illness, leading a young team that includes Per Strand Hagenes and Loe van Belle.

Laporte, a rising star in Classics since joining Visma in 2022, struggled last season with cytomegalovirus, impacting his performances in major races. Visma will compete with a six-rider squad at Le Samyn without Laporte.
