The Vuelta Femenina confirms it will tackle the notorious Alto de l'Angliru in 2026. This climb, famous for its grueling 13km stretch and steep gradients, marks a significant milestone for women's cycling. The route, unveiled in Madrid, includes a gradual ascent through Galicia and León, culminating in a challenging finale in Asturias with back-to-back summit finishes at Les Praeres and the Angliru.

Kiko García, the Vuelta's technical director, reveals that the decision was not made lightly. Despite mixed feedback from teams, there is confidence in the top riders' abilities. García emphasizes the importance of considering all competitors, stating, “We needed to be sure that everyone was OK doing that.” This historic addition signals a bold step forward in the evolution of women's cycling, showcasing its growing prominence in the sport.
