England, with six clubs involved, is the most represented country in the knockout stage of the Champions League. However, the results from the first leg put the teams in a tough spot. No English club managed to come out on top. Newcastle and Arsenal both settled for a draw, 1-1 each, against Barcelona and Bayer Leverkusen. The others, on the other hand, faced significant setbacks. Chelsea suffered a heavy defeat against Paris Saint-Germain (2-5), Manchester City went down against Real Madrid (0-3), and Tottenham lost to Atlético de Madrid (2-5). Liverpool, despite its loss to Galatasaray (0-1), holds a glimmer of hope for the return leg next week. Qualification looks challenging for the English clubs.
