Esapekka Lappi shines at WRC Rally Sweden, finishing sixth and radiating joy. Two years after breaking a six-and-a-half-year victory drought, Lappi embraces his return to the World Rally Championship with enthusiasm. “I’m not so stressed,” Lappi states, relishing the freedom of driving without worrying about his future. He focuses on enjoying the Rally1 machines while he can.
Teaming with co-driver Enni Malkonen, Lappi becomes the top Hyundai crew, holding fifth for most of the rally. He even sacrifices his position to help full-time teammate Adrien Fourmaux secure extra points.
Lappi attributes his renewed happiness to rediscovering his love for rallying during a break, stating, “I just try to recreate those feelings now.” His speed remains undeniable, evident from winning the Finnish Rally Championship last year. Lappi is back, and he’s ready to enjoy the ride.
