The Lambay Races return to Howth Yacht Club on Saturday, May 30. This iconic event is a highlight of the club's racing calendar, attracting sailors from across the region for an exhilarating day of competition. The race features a single lap around Lambay Island, welcoming cruisers, one designs, and sports boats. It promises a unique challenge in one of Ireland's most stunning sailing locations.
Dating back to 1898, the Lambay Races rank among Dublin's longest-running sailing events, playing a crucial role in Ireland's maritime heritage. The original race started when Henry Stokes donated a trophy for a 17-mile course from Howth, around Lambay Island, and back, passing west of Ireland's Eye. Over the years, the race has adapted to advancements in boat design while maintaining its essence of fierce competition and seamanship.
Early bird entry fees are available until May 3, with final entries closing on May 22. Participants should act quickly to secure their spot in this premier Dublin sailing event. The Lambay Races receive support from Fingal County Council. For more details and registration, visit hyc.ie.
