Two yachts, Wild Thing 100 and Vixen Racing, lead the charge as entries open for the 81st Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, both eager to rectify past disappointments. This year’s entries already include 24 yachts, with some big names aiming for glory.

Wild Thing 100, co-owned by Grant Wharington, is on a mission after retiring from the previous race due to technical failures. Wharington proudly states this marks the first time he’s entered early, thanks to his crew captain Theodore Somssich, who clicked 'submit' just seconds before other competitors. The team is focused on overcoming last year’s challenges, making crucial modifications to their mast and boat displacement to enhance performance.

On the other hand, Vixen Racing, helmed by Sharon Ferris-Choat, also looks to finish what they started after last year's withdrawal. The pink-hulled yacht stands ready to compete fiercely.

As race day approaches on December 26, anticipation builds. Both teams aim for a strong finish, with Wharington particularly excited about the post-race celebrations in Hobart, promising to make the journey worthwhile. The numbers tell a story of determination and resilience, setting the stage for an exhilarating race ahead.
