The Ocean Race announces a new U.S. destination for its 2027 edition. St. Pete-Clearwater, Florida, will launch a thrilling transatlantic leg to Cascais, Portugal. This marks the first time the Gulf Coast serves as a race port in the event’s 54-year history. The leg spans 4,500 nautical miles and is set for May 4-16, 2027. The St. Petersburg Yacht Club will host the Ocean Live Park race village, welcoming global visitors and partnering with the University of South Florida. The IMOCA fleet will dock at the waterfront during the stopover. Rob Britts, Stopover Director, emphasizes the event's connection to ocean racing, science, and sustainability. Florida has a rich history with The Ocean Race, having hosted it five times before. St. Pete-Clearwater steps into the spotlight, blending natural beauty with a vibrant cultural scene, poised to attract attention from around the world.
