However, the third day of Cork Week commenced under a thick veil of fog. Racing was put on hold as mist enveloped Cork Harbour. Eventually, a south-westerly breeze emerged, clearing the fog and signaling the start of one of sailing’s most revered regattas.
Moreover, when the mist finally dissipated, it unveiled a stunning scene. The entire fleet for Cork Week assembled on the starting line outside Roches Point. This captivating sight showcased a vibrant display of sails, setting the stage for the Cork Week Harbour Race. Furthermore, Barry Cunningham’s Royal Cork YC / Royal Irish YC J/109 Chimaera took center stage in the Harbour Race.
