The FIA announces a game-changing adjustment to the Miami Grand Prix schedule with an extended opening practice session. Here’s why this decision could redefine team strategies for the weekend.

Free Practice 1 now runs for 90 minutes instead of the usual hour, taking place from 12:00 to 13:30 local time. This shift comes after a five-week break, allowing teams and drivers crucial extra track time to acclimatize and adapt to recent regulatory changes. The FIA's official statement highlights the significance of this extended session, especially under the Sprint format, which typically limits practice time.

Despite this adjustment, the rest of the Miami GP schedule remains intact. Sprint Qualifying is still set for 16:30 on Friday, followed by the second Sprint race of the season at 12:00 on Saturday. Qualifying for Sunday’s Grand Prix will occur later that day at 16:00, with the main race also starting at 16:00 on Sunday.

As the teams gear up, Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli leads the Drivers’ Championship, while the Brackley outfit tops the teams’ standings. This extended practice session could be pivotal, providing valuable insights ahead of a critical race weekend. Stay tuned for more updates!
