McLaren is facing a power supply issue with its Mercedes-AMG engine during private testing in Barcelona. The British team, two-time reigning world champions, announced that the problem was detected during the lunch break on the penultimate day of testing. Oscar Piastri, after completing 48 laps, was the driver on track in the morning, setting a best time of 1 minute 18 seconds 419 milliseconds, the fourth-best time of the day. McLaren is working hard to resolve this issue to optimize the MCL40 for Friday's session. Meanwhile, Mercedes-AMG is clocking up the laps with George Russell and Kimi Antonelli, totaling 500 laps over three days. The teams are focusing on reliability in light of the regulatory changes this season. The true performance of the cars will be revealed during the official testing in Bahrain in February.
