Haas sits fourth in the Constructors' Championship after three races, a stunning turnaround for the underdog team. Team boss Ayao Komatsu admits he would have laughed at such a prediction during pre-season testing. With 18 points, Haas leads over struggling giants like Red Bull Racing, trailing only Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren.
Komatsu acknowledges the unexpected success but emphasizes the challenges ahead. “This year is going to be a very tough development war,” he states. The team focuses on maximizing their capabilities rather than merely defending their position. “It’s about refining our process and getting the best out of the car, our team, and our drivers,” he explains.
A significant contributor to Haas's early-season success is 20-year-old Oliver Bearman, who has scored 17 of the team’s points. He currently ranks seventh in the Drivers' Championship after impressive performances in Australia and China. However, Bearman faced a setback at the Japanese Grand Prix with a high-speed crash. Komatsu reassures fans, “He is fine. Thankfully, he’s just got a bruised knee, nothing's broken. He should be back fully ready for Miami.”
As the Miami Grand Prix approaches, Haas aims to solidify its top-four standing.
