Jack Doohan, Haas F1 reserve driver, embarks on a new adventure in 2026, transitioning to the European Le Mans Series. After losing his Alpine seat in early 2025, the Australian returns to full-time racing with Nielsen Racing, taking the wheel of their #24 LMP2 entry. He teams up with former Williams F1 test driver Roy Nissany and Ed Pearson, aiming for success right out of the gate.
The season kicks off at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with the 4 Hours of Barcelona on April 12. For Doohan, this move symbolizes a fresh start rather than an end. He expresses excitement about rejoining the racing scene, stating, “It’s a new challenge with a lot to learn, but I’m confident we’ll get up to speed quickly with such a strong team around me.”
Doohan acknowledges the importance of teamwork in endurance racing. He believes the combination of experience and hunger among his teammates will foster strong chemistry. Behind the wheel of the Oreca 07, Doohan anticipates mastering this new challenge compared to single-seaters.
While focusing on endurance racing, his F1 aspirations remain as he continues to serve as a reserve driver for Haas, alongside Ryo Hirakawa, keeping him prepared for any opportunities that arise.
