Charles Leclerc identifies Ferrari's critical weakness after finishing third at the Japanese Grand Prix. Despite a competitive start at Suzuka, he highlights the SF-26's power unit as a significant setback. Leclerc notes that a poorly timed Safety Car disrupted his race strategy, placing him on the back foot against Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton.

“This season has shown flashes of competitiveness, but we need to improve the power unit,” Leclerc states, echoing team principal Frédéric Vasseur's concerns. The lack of straight-line speed is a major disadvantage in a sport where every detail counts.

Leclerc acknowledges that improvements in other areas are also vital. “The tire management, aerodynamics, and chassis all play a role," he adds. “We need to work hard to close the gap to Mercedes and keep McLaren behind us.”

While Leclerc is satisfied with the podium finish, he remains realistic about Ferrari's challenges. “I’m pleased, but not over the moon. We’ve been unlucky with the Safety Car.”

Leclerc's message is clear: Ferrari must address multiple issues, starting with the engine, if they want to regain their competitive edge in Formula 1.
