Helmut Marko’s heart races at the Australian Grand Prix start. The former Red Bull advisor watches with anticipation as Mercedes claims the front row. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc ignites excitement, challenging George Russell in the early laps. Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar and Racing Bulls’ Arvid Lindblad push hard, boosting Marko’s adrenaline. “My pulse was racing because I knew the start would bring surprises,” he says.
However, Mercedes quickly establishes dominance. Marko notes Kimi Antonelli’s impressive recovery from seventh to second, highlighting Mercedes’ advantage. “He drove roughly one second faster than the rest,” Marko adds.
Despite the thrilling start, Marko critiques the new regulations, lamenting the lack of real overtaking. “There were no real overtaking manoeuvres,” he states, unimpressed. The sound of drivers lifting off the gas on straights disturbs him. Marko remains critical but avoids calling for a complete rule overhaul—yet.
