Lando Norris claims Ferrari, not Mercedes, may have the fastest car in F1 after the season opener in Melbourne. Despite George Russell's commanding victory for Mercedes, Norris insists Ferrari's cornering speed is unmatched. “I think Ferrari… quite clearly have the best car,” he states. Norris finishes fifth, 52 seconds behind Russell and 36 seconds adrift of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, acknowledging McLaren's significant performance gap. “We're nowhere near where we need to be,” he admits, estimating a deficit of five to six tenths per lap. Adding to the challenge, Norris notes Red Bull's speed, as Max Verstappen nearly overtakes him despite starting last. “For us to match that is zero chance at the minute,” he acknowledges. Norris emphasizes the need for McLaren to learn quickly and improve as the season progresses.
