Red Bull Racing shakes up its technical team amid growing performance concerns. This restructuring could redefine their competitive edge in Formula 1.
The team announces changes to enhance innovation and performance, particularly as their current car struggles with speed and consistency. Max Verstappen faces challenges with the new RB22 design, which has shown unpredictable behavior on the track.
Central to this overhaul is Ben Waterhouse, promoted to Chief Performance and Design Engineer, uniting car design and on-track performance under one leadership. This move aims to streamline decisions and enhance execution as the team adapts to the complexities of their 2026 car. Waterhouse, a Red Bull veteran since 2014, now reports to Technical Director Pierre Waché, emphasizing a more cohesive approach.
Additionally, Andrea Landi will join as Head of Performance in July, bringing experience from Ferrari and Red Bull’s sister team. His expertise aims to offer fresh insights into data interpretation, crucial for fixing the car's inconsistent performance.
With rivals closing the gap under new regulations, Red Bull must respond swiftly. For Verstappen and the team, the focus is clear: transform their car into a reliable contender and maintain their status at the forefront of Formula 1.
