Francesca Clapcich announces her dynamic crew for The Ocean Race Atlantic, set to sail from New York to Lorient this September. This international lineup features Alberto Bona, Elodie-Jane Mettraux, and Will Harris, with Meredith Rodgers as the team’s Onboard Reporter.
The race, spanning 3,000 nautical miles, kicks off on September 1, with leading boats expected to reach Lorient between September 8-10. Clapcich prioritizes teamwork and camaraderie, selecting sailors not just for their skills but for their ability to thrive under pressure. “I wanted a mix of different experiences,” she states, highlighting the strong friendships that bind the crew.
Clapcich and Mettraux share a decade-long history, having raced together since The Ocean Race 2017-18. Mettraux views this event as a thrilling challenge and a chance to learn about the IMOCA Class. Bona brings extensive experience from Class40 racing, eager to adapt to the fully crewed environment. Harris, seasoned in the IMOCA, adds crucial knowledge of the boat's intricacies.
With a blend of talent and strong interpersonal ties, this crew is ready for the high-stakes race ahead.
