As strong winds and rain rolled through the bay, racing was postponed until mid-afternoon. Once the delta flag went up, all fleets surged into action. In the 49erFX category, Australia’s Laura Harding and Annie Wilmot dominated, winning both races and moving up to second overall—just two points behind Italy’s Sofia Giunchiglia and Giulia Schio, who maintained their lead with a steady 2nd and 5th place finish. China’s Yingqian Wang and Xiaoya Su slipped to third but remain crucial in the selection battle for the Asian Games.
In the 49er gold fleet, Ireland’s Robert Dickson and Sean Waddilove took the overall lead with a solid performance, while China’s Zaiding Wen and Tian Liu shone brightly with a race win and a 2nd place finish, intensifying their internal competition for an Asian Games spot.
Meanwhile, in the Nacra 17 fleet, Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti continued to excel, claiming two more victories. Gianluigi Ugolini and Maria Giubilei showcased remarkable resilience, despite equipment issues. The conditions proved ideal for competitive sailing, making for an exhilarating day in Hyères.
