Hetairos shatters the Round Antigua Race record at the 2026 Superyacht Challenge Antigua. The 218ft Dykstra/Reichel-Pugh ketch, captained by Graham Newton, completes the 48.31nm course in an astonishing 3 hours 20 minutes 35 seconds. This new benchmark obliterates the previous record by over 25 minutes.
Racing conditions are fierce, with trade winds peaking at 27 knots and seas over two meters. Hetairos, manned by a 47-member crew, averages 14.45 knots and reaches a top speed of 22 knots early in the race.
The team navigates tricky waters, including a challenging transition zone near Sandy Island. Remarkably, Hetairos’ time surpasses the recent RORC Antigua 360 record by over 12 minutes.
Newton emphasizes the focus on minimizing distance and leveraging their improved understanding of the boat. Day 1 sets an electrifying tone for the championship.
