The countdown is on for the 38th Jeanneau and 74 Islands Airlie Beach Race Week, kicking off from August 6-13, with a vibrant mix of local and international entries.
This year's regatta features newcomers like Sharon Ferris-Choat, a Canadian/Kiwi Olympian, who is set to debut her modified Class 40 yacht, Vixen Racing. Excited about her first Airlie Beach experience, she aims to create a pathway for aspiring sailors through her Coastal and Offshore Academy. Meanwhile, Brian Petersen returns for another round with his TP52, V5, continuing to build on his racing experience in Australia after last year’s Sydney Hobart.
The event also welcomes the seasoned crew of Goggles and Mister Magoo, who have participated since 2004. Known for their camaraderie and consistent presence, they aim to replicate their past success after finishing third in CBH and second in PHS last year.
With international competitors and local favorites, this regatta promises thrilling races and memorable moments. Keep an eye on Vixen Racing and the loyal Mister Magoo crew as they navigate the waters of the Whitsundays in this highly anticipated sailing event.
