Five Benfica supporters have been provisionally suspended for racist behavior towards Vinicius during the first leg of the Champions League playoff. The incident occurred ten days after inappropriate gestures were directed at the Brazilian forward by Gianluca Prestianni, who is also under investigation. The match between Benfica and Real Madrid, which ended in a 0-1 defeat for the Lisbon side, was interrupted for nearly ten minutes by referee François Letexier due to these behaviors. Benfica has initiated disciplinary proceedings and confirmed that racist conduct in the stands is incompatible with its values. The club states that it will not tolerate any form of discrimination or racism. Investigations are ongoing.
