The 55th Trofeo Princesa Sofia Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels officially launches, positioning Mallorca as a premier destination for Olympic sailing. Nearly 900 boats and over 1,100 sailors from 62 countries are set to compete in the Bay of Palma until April 4, marking the first round of the 2026 Sailing Grand Slam. Key figures at the event include Cati Darder, president of the Federación Balear de Vela, and Guillem Ginard, Minister for Tourism of the Consell de Mallorca. The competition features ten classes selected for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. From March 27-29, the Sofía will also host ORC cruisers and One Design classes, enhancing inclusivity in sailing. This edition is organized by Bahía Activa, a collaboration aimed at ensuring the future of sailing in the bay. The event not only showcases top talent but also promotes Mallorca as a dynamic and global tourism hub.
