The 55th Trofeo Princesa Sofia Mallorca by FERGUS Hotels attracts sailors from 62 nations, showcasing the Bay of Palma as a premier regatta venue. Over 1,100 competitors race nearly 900 boats, highlighting Mallorca's status in international sports. The event, supported by the Balearic Islands Government's Sustainable Tourism Tax, promotes year-round tourism, environmental education, and local culture. Spain fields the largest fleet with 65 teams and 80 sailors, crucial for Olympic preparations, according to director Xisco Gil. Other strong competitors include Italy (63 teams), France (61), the UK (57), Germany (53), and China (50). Last year's champion Emma Wilson, who dominated the iQFOiL Women's fleet, emphasizes the unique competition conditions. Micky Beckett aims for his fifth consecutive title in the ILCA 7 class, racing against 200 boats. The Trofeo continues to be a must-attend event in the sailing calendar.
