Cooper Pratt signs an eight-year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers, extending through 2033 with options for 2034 and 2035. The deal, reportedly worth $50.75 million, brings a sense of security as he navigates his journey to the majors. Pratt, 21, emphasizes that the long-term commitment alleviates pressure, allowing him to focus purely on his performance.
“It’s fun pressure,” Pratt states, highlighting his desire to excel without the weight of contractual uncertainties. The shortstop, who starts the season with Triple-A Nashville, looks forward to playing without distraction and securing his family’s future. Pratt, drafted in the sixth round in 2023, enters the season as ESPN’s No. 70 prospect. He earned a Gold Glove in 2024 for outstanding defense but continues to develop his hitting skills, posting a .238 average with 62 RBIs and 31 steals last season at Double-A Biloxi.
Brewers president Matt Arnold believes in Pratt’s potential, citing his athleticism and room for growth. Agent Scott Boras acknowledges the trade-off of delaying free agency but asserts the contract is designed for Pratt’s success. The Brewers aim for similar results as with Jackson Chourio's long-term deal, which has paid off significantly in the majors.
