Marc Marquez exits the Thai Grand Prix due to a freak rear wheel failure, cutting short a promising race while running fourth. The reigning MotoGP champion attributes the incident to a kerb strike after jumping the Turn 4 barrier. Marquez and team principal Davide Tardozzi emphasize that the kerb's impact was unexpected, noting he had safely navigated it numerous times before. "It’s fully unlucky to destroy the rim," Marquez states. The mishap denies him valuable championship points after a challenging weekend for Ducati, overshadowed by Marco Bezzecchi and Aprilia's dominance. Despite his injury limitations, Marquez felt competitive, having made strides past Jorge Martin and closing in on Pedro Acosta and Raul Fernandez. "Sure was P4... optimistic P3," he reflects. His retirement leaves him with zero points, a tough blow as he battles back to peak form.
