Keelan Harvick, 13, signs a long-term deal with Toyota Racing Development, marking a significant step in his racing career. The son of NASCAR legend Kevin Harvick aims to follow in his father’s footsteps and compete in the Cup Series.
Keelan shifts focus from European racing after a defining experience in Italy, where he felt overwhelmed by the massive attention surrounding Formula 1 star Charles Leclerc. "It was just a lot of people... not for me," he stated.
Toyota outlines an ambitious plan for Keelan, teaming him up with RACKLEY W.A.R. and Kevin Harvick, Inc. He will race the No. 62 Toyota Camry, with ExxonMobil as a primary sponsor in various late model events across the nation.
This partnership is a notable change for the Harvick family, as Kevin Harvick spent 23 years racing with Chevrolet and Ford. Kevin retired after the 2023 season, boasting 63 Cup Series wins and the 2014 championship. He now serves as an analyst for Fox Sports.
TRD, known for nurturing talent like Christopher Bell and John Hunter Nemechek, offers Keelan access to top-tier development resources, including the Toyota Performance Center. Tyler Gibbs, president of TRD, expresses excitement about welcoming Keelan into the Toyota Racing family.
