Alexander Esteban Huaiquil Chavez pleads guilty to interstate transportation of stolen property in a Tennessee federal courtroom. Chavez is part of a theft group of Chilean nationals accused of breaking into the homes of athletes nationwide, stealing cash, jewelry, and weapons. Notably, a burglary in December 2024 led to the theft of approximately $1 million in valuables from Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant while the team faced the Golden State Warriors. Chavez faces sentencing on June 11, with a plea agreement suggesting two years in prison if he adheres to the terms. A grand jury indicted him and three others in May. They were arrested in Ohio with burglary tools and fake IDs. The investigation utilized cellphone data and iCloud photos linking them to stolen items.
